Child (Age 3-12): $103.00
Infant (Age 2 & under): Free
Discover Kauai’s ancient and recent past, as well as some significant archeological sites and sacred treasures. Begin with the majesty of Opaekaa Falls–an 80-foot tiered waterfall. Opaekaa means ‘rolling shrimp’ and indeed the waterfall was named after the delicious crustaceans that were once abundant in its stream and pool. Visit the Wailua River Complex at the Heiau, designated a National Historic Landmark in 1962. This was the exclusive and sacred home, sanctuary and center of government for Kauai’s Hawaiian royalty. It contains the remains of many significant structures including Poli’ahu Heiau–a sacred and royal temple of worship that was in full and regular use when Captain James Cook visited Kauai in 1778. Head to historic Kilohana Plantation, established in 1864 and managed by Gaylord Wilcox–Kauai’s famous sugar baron.
Your adventure here involves the authentic Kauai Plantation Railway with a 40-minute fun and informative conductor-narrated train ride through 105 acres of Kilohana Plantation. Watch for fruit tree orchards, sugar cane, pineapple, banana, papaya, and numerous other exotic fruit and indigenous trees. The train will stop for you to feed a herd of wild pigs, goats and sheep. Explore Kauai’s largest sugar estate mansion, built in 1935, where you can shop the beautiful and unique shops while also touring the historic manor home and grounds.
